Position Summary:The Junior Interior Designer will work in accordance with established policies and procedures within the Interior Design Department. The Junior Interior Designer will work under the direct supervision of a more senior designer and perform a broad variety of design tasks.The position will collaborate with various interdisciplinary teams and contribute on all project phases to include strategy, schematic plans, and construction documents. The Junior Designer will also participate with selection and presentation of furniture, fixtures and equipment while working with consultants, contractors, product representatives and fabricators to achieve product objectives.

Essential Duties:Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on varying project typesContribute to all project phases: project strategy, test fits, schematic plans and conceptual designs for schematic design, refine design solutions for design development, collaborating with multiple disciplinesParticipate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lightingProduce graphic presentations, including 3D renderings, for client presentationsContribute to the preparation of construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and specificationGenerate finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for constructionCollaborate with consultants, contractors, product representatives, fabricators, and other vendors to achieve project objectives
Responsibilities:Work in a team environment with strong communicationFamiliarize yourself with local material resources, suppliers, etc.Under supervision, may make updates and changes to existing drawings or designsAssist senior designers in selecting fixtures and finishesUnder supervision, develops preliminary space plansAssist and learn detailingAssist and learn the production of furniture & finish packages, along with cost estimatingAssists senior staff with verification of site details to support designAssists in field surveying of client spacesCorrects drawings red lined by Senior DesignersSupports the team in collecting information for client assessment; may attend interviews, provide documentation support

Required Experience & Skills:0-5 years of postgraduate interior design experienceExperience with workplace/multifamily projectsProficient in AutoCAD (most recent version)Strong conceptual and technical capabilities with attention to detail, experienced in construction documentationExperience with 3D modeling and visualization softwareSelf-motivated, eager to learn and can work on multiple projects at onceGraphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas.Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specificationsProficiency in Specification SoftwareProficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education/Training:High School Graduate or equivalentBachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school (CIDA)Proficient in AutoCAD (most recent version)Passion for sustainable practices and interest in working towards certification (LEED or WELL)Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Must have reliable transportationValid Maryland Driver’s License
