Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Communication Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#130090) in Rhetoric and Public Address at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate is expected to have primary expertise in Rhetoric and Public Address and be able to teach concentration courses such as the History and Theory of Rhetoric and Persuasion. In addition, the successful candidate will teach core courses in the major, such as Communication Theory and Critical Methods, and will be encouraged to develop classes in their area of expertise.

Required Education

A terminal degree in communication or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with experience mentoring students and a research area that would complement our existing faculty and courses, including expertise in race and gender, will receive special consideration.
