Description

KLJ Engineering is seeking an experienced Designer III to join our Oil & Gas team, providing critical technical design support and guidance for infrastructure projects and systems. This position will involve assisting in various stages of project development, including due diligence, investigation, remediation, permitting, feasibility studies, and construction.

As a Designer III, you will play a key role in supporting research, design, site planning, and development for oil and gas infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include generating documentation, producing model-based reports, and ensuring that project quality meets or exceeds industry standards for safety, design, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct data collection, analysis, and compilation from surveys, GIS data, subsurface utility information, geotechnical data, and maps for project development and design. Perform design work to develop drawings, models, and engineering designs based on site conditions, resource availability, and project requirements. Utilize advanced modeling techniques, integrate sustainable design solutions, and ensure project design complies with safety and regulatory standards. Collaborate within a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientists to deliver projects on time, within scope, and on budget. Verify and document site conditions, providing technical input on environmental, grading, drainage, hydrological, and other project-specific issues. Prepare data visualizations, reports, sketches, and calculations for data interpretation and communication. Assist in scoping and development of small- to medium-sized projects and maintain up-to-date record drawings for all assigned project work. Conduct engineering studies to provide insights for design and construction, addressing specific project challenges and planning for future needs.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education). Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in civil, structural, or oil and gas infrastructure design. Skills:

In-depth knowledge of civil, structural, or transmission engineering as applied to oil and gas projects. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to interpret data and reach logical solutions. Effective communication skills to present ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities. Proficient in technical writing, office software, and design software relevant to the discipline. Ability to work flexible hours to meet project requirements.

Additional Requirements:

Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed for project work. Physical capability to walk up to two miles on uneven terrain, frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment: This is a full-time position requiring a 40-hour workweek, with approximately 90% of time spent in the office and 10% in the field.
