Summary of Position

The Audio Visual (AV) Analyst position is an audio/visual equipment, services and design professional that works directly with deans, department heads, chairs, individual faculty/staff and vendors to determine venue or departmental audio, video and broadcast technology needs. The AV Analyst manages the solution to any needs including the design, purchase, coordination, installation and support of audio and video equipment. In addition, the position provides oversight for the AV work area and provides digital signage and video security device support.

A successful candidate possesses strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and is at ease with the following:
  • Technical Proficiency and Project Management: Demonstrates expertise in researching, designing, and installing/upgrading audio and video technologies for classrooms, conference rooms, and other venues. Skilled in defining project scopes, deliverables, and timelines, providing effective project management, and coordinating installations. Capable of determining budgets and managing the lifecycle of technology upgrades.
  • Problem-Solving and Support Orientation: Exhibits strong troubleshooting abilities and a proactive approach to maintaining and repairing audio, video, and display technologies. Focused on minimizing downtime, enhancing reliability, and improving the ease of use of technology in classroom and venue settings. Provides effective support to address and resolve technical issues swiftly.
  • Event Coordination and Flexibility: Capable of setting up and operating a range of AV technologies for various events, including videoconferencing tools, public address systems, cameras, and video recording equipment. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in managing scheduling and coverage for events, including evenings and weekends, ensuring seamless operation and successful outcomes for both internal and external college events.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of all technologies that correlate into designing and installing classroom/conference room AV technologies, such as acoustics, lighting, room measurements, viewing angles, screen size and format.
  • Ability to research, design, install, test and maintain audio/video systems.
  • General Construction experience with common hand tools and a functional understanding of the construction trades to include structural framing, electrical and low voltage systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree, or higher, in a Media, Electronics, Computer Sciences or Broadcast-related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year of audio/video work experience (e.g. audio/video engineer or technician) to include experience in the setup and operation of common and specialized AV technologies to support internal and external college events with an emphasis on videoconferencing (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx etc.), public address sound systems, video cameras and video recording equipment.
  • Project management experience that includes coordinating technical installation and renovation projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience working in Higher Education.
  • Project management experience that includes coordinating technical installation and renovation projects.
  • Experience with training and knowledge transfer on software usage and technical concepts to non-technical end users in a variety of settings.
  • Knowledge of Integrated AV system products.
  • Advanced experience researching, designing, installing, troubleshooting and repairing audio/video systems.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, transports, and installs hardware and peripheral hardware weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs. around and between both RRCC campuses. Installation often involves climbing a ladder, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and handling.
  • This is a moderately active role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $59,551-$65,506 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
