Qualified candidates must have 3 to 5 years of experience in the Commercial Pro Audio Video Industry. The following are the primary responsibilities, qualifications, and skills for the position.Scope of Responsibilities: Level 1•Ability to read basic plans of audio and video.•Pulling low voltage wire (new construction and retro fit), according to basic designs and project manager or lead tech instructions.•Tone and Test cabling, be able to use a multi-meter•Neat and legible labeling of wires and components according to company standards•Experience with termination including RJ45, DB9, HD15, RCA, BNC, and other compression, crimp or solder on terminations. Fiber termination, installation, and splicing a plus.•Understanding of how to trim-out basic in-wall/in-ceiling speakers with or without pre construction brackets, phone ports, data ports - I.E. RJ-11, RJ-45 jacks/ wires, and other basic equipment. Insuring all trim-out products are straight/level and lined up correctly. Laser level is a must on in-wall and on wall installations.•Ability to rack mount most equipment, lacing rear bars in proper places, and rack rails along with terminating basic power to a power strip, labeling all cables and components.•General knowledge of the basic systems and connectivity of those systems.•Install and setup skills for basic installed systems•Insuring items on given punch-lists are complete in a timely fashion.•General knowledge of basic hand tools, proper and safe operation of those tools.•Ability to work efficiently and neatly in client's homes and businesses. Neat and acceptable appearance, courteous to peers and clients.•A sense of urgency for organization, and quality of work.•Ability to work and communicate with other team members, and take direction from team lead and project manager.•Assist other technicians with installations when needed.•Updating time tracking•Cleaning daily job trash, unneeded materials, etc. from the inside of the vans each day, and a complete cleaning each week•Familiarity with safety standards, construction site safety rules, follow PPE guidelines as required (hard hat and vest provided, steel-toe boots are the responsibility of technician)Scope of Responsibilities: Level 2•General knowledge in the areas of installation, service, testing and maintenance of equipment including speakers, amplifiers, projectors, displays, etc.•Ability to punch down/terminate all 66 and 110 phone blocks, assigning demark lines from outside to inside of the building, terminating and labeling data blocks, CATV distribution systems, and satellite systems.•Installation of control systems. Know how to upload and download programming code from internal or external programmer•Full understand products being sold and connection and signal routing.•Trained eye for detail and pride in quality installation.•Ability to install and configure audio systems and video projection devices.•Understanding of different audio and video signal qualities.•Ability to solve problems without outside assistance and ability to read and understand product manuals.•Awareness of job-site issues and helpful resolution for Project Management.•Excellent de-bugging skills and the ability to logically trouble shoot installations.•Know how to construct, install, wire and label equipment racks.•Ability to read full plans of network, phone, TV, audio, video and control.•A sense of urgency for organization, and quality of work.•Ability to work and communicate with other team members.Scope of Responsibilities: Level 3•Installation and setup of control systems. Includes IR, RF, IP, CEC, and RS232 communication protocols.•Must be familiar with uploading and editing programs into control systems.•Knowledge of Pro-Audio, Residential, and Commercial systems including installation of speakers, speaker systems, DSP devices, automated and manual mixers, mixing consoles, EQ's, compressor/limiters, speaker processors, amplifiers, and other outboard gear associated with installation of systems.•Ability to install accessory equipment such as "pop-ups/cable cubbies" in conference tables, floor boxes, in ceiling camera systems as well as lighting control, shade control, and surveillance systems.•Understanding of wireless systems (RF Environment) -Mic systems, LAN, control and other devices)•Ability to write and modify audio programs for common DSP's.•Strong understanding of Ethernet (LAN) technologies. Ability to configure network switches, routers, and port forwarding.•Understanding of OSHA, ADA requirements, applicable code requirements•Ability to fully commission any level of system including residential, commercial, or pro-audio systems. •Strong knowledge in all areas of installation, service, testing and maintenance of projectors and related equipment including electric screens, lifts, rear projection assemblies, and associated mounts.•Installation and setup and configuration of video conferencing system end pointsRequirementsSkillsets and Core Competencies for Install TechniciansInstall Technician- Set of basic tools, access to a ladder- Knowledge of Industry Safety Standards for working in commercial spaces- Prior A/V installation experience- Cable Installation- Cable terminations and testingo RJ45 (must have an RJ45 Tester)o XLRo 3.5mm connectorso COAX- Wall mounting/Ceiling Mounting Displays- Ceiling mounting projectors/screens- Installation of speakers and microphoneso Tone generator to test speakers- Experience with reading a wiring/signal flow diagramLead technician- All of the above- Leadership, management, organization, communication skillso Interface with customer and IT personnel- Laptop with all of the proper programs to interface with the A/V equipment with knowledge of how to use:o Crestron Toolboxo Biamp (Tesira, Audia etc.)o Extron (Global Configurator etc.)- Basic knowledge of Network - OSI Modelo Layer 1 - physical connections of equipmento Layer 2 - datalinko Layer 3 - network (switches)- How to Configure the equipmento Crestron (Matrix, Touch panels, etc)o Danteo AVB- Rack wiring (proper techniques for installing, dressing, labeling)- Red-Line wiring/signal flow diagramCertifications of Skills (any of the following would be helpful)- CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D- AVIXA training and certification- Manufacturer training i.e. Biamp, Crestron, AMX, Cisco, Shure, Extron, Zoom, Polycom and certifications & training.List of tools/connectors/supplies for techniciansHere is a list of basic tools and miscellaneous parts every technician should be carrying in their tool bag (not share with other techs).
