Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description
We offer a broad range of professional, engineering, and technical services to the telecommunications and power delivery markets. We have a current opening for an OSP Designer. We support our customers and stakeholders and strive to exceed expectations with all our services, which include Communications Design Services, Energy Distribution Services, Utility Pole Inspection, and Environmental Services.
Responsibilities
Interpret aerial fiber optic route proposals and incorporate them into OSP design, including map reading, data interpretation, and photo interpretation.
Import collected data into OSP design and organize data accordingly.
Complete the design of aerial OSP projects using Adobe, GIS, Excel, and industry-specific computer software with minimal direction.
Utilize 3D modeling software to ensure proper structural integrity of utility poles.
Comprehend written procedural documents and follow verbal guidance as they pertain to OSP design.
Independently manage time and progression through project tasks to meet assigned deadlines.
Communicate effectively with management and teammates, both verbally and in writing.
Provide weekly project updates and progress reports to management.
Confirm all deliverable documents are complete at project handoff with minimal direction.
Essential Skills
Associates degree
OSP Telecom experience preferred
2-3 years of related experience in utility design (distribution preferred)
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Adobe software
Demonstrated ability to critically think
Experience with Drafting or Adobe for engineering purposes
Telecom, fiber, or power delivery experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Desire to be in an Engineering Drafting / Design role
Work Environment
This is an office-only role with no driving required. Will be in office 100% until trained, then open to 100% remote, hybrid, or 100% in office. The role involves taking data procured from the field (utility pole heights, pictures, dimensions, measurements) and inputting that into various programs to build a 3D model that assesses if a pole can accommodate new fiber attachments or if it needs modification or replacement. You will work a minimum of 40 hours a week, with opportunities for overtime up to 70 hours. Per diem of $30/day is provided for days away from home, and hotel accommodations are covered. There are also opportunities for career advancement within the company, with various roles such as associate, level I or II, specialist, designer, permit coordinator, and project manager/team manager.
