The RTP facility has multiple high-speed manufacturing lines, detailed robotic integration, advanced data collection and analytics for improved safety, increased productivity, and variability reduction. The facility is actively being expanded to add additional capacity and this role would support both the existing assets and the start-up of additional capacity. This is an exciting opportunity to support a state-of-the-art facility as it continues to expand. Responsibilities: The Senior Manager will report to the Associate Director of Operations, Visual Inspection. The Senior Manager will be responsible for helping the area achieve safety, quality, and customer focused goals and objectives. The Senior Manager will provide leadership across a 24/7 manufacturing team via direct supervision of shift supervisors and/or support personnel. This role is expected to have frequent shopfloor presence. Key Objectives Safety Ensure all team members are knowledgeable of/compliant with safety procedures and policies Initiates and leads safety investigations, manages safety actions to closure, and communicates safety notifications across shifts Identifies and implements safety improvements by fostering involvement from the operations team Quality Ensures all team members are knowledgeable of/compliant with operating procedures and process requirements Initiates, investigates, approves deviations as needed Change owner, activity plan owner as needed Manage People Effectively Responsible for managing daily operations across all shifts, including attendance, overtime, operational issues, performance management, development planning and reporting of results. Ensure training curriculums contain required content and employees stay current on training Maintaining Operations Responsible for meeting the daily schedule/monthly production plan and keeping department leadership informed of issues. Interact and/or lead cross functional teams to deliver technical and business solutions with operational excellence – a commitment to continuous improvement through data collection, evaluation, and prompt and effective implementation by the operations personnel and the process team is expected. Ensure personnel training/qualification schedules are strategically developed to achieve business demand; ensure execution adherence; problem solve with trainers and SMEs when delays are experienced Access owner for area Serves as delegate to process team leader Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree 4 years previous experience supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing process with 2 years experience in visual inspection Excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to set priorities based on high-level objectives; ability to provide clear direction to large teams Demonstrated ability to navigate multi-layered organization; ability to influence peers to drive change Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel while still meeting timelines Demonstrated ability to seek and interpret available information, assess risk, and make disciplined decisions Additional Skills/Preferences: Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, technical, or business field 2 years experience as people manager; demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and grow employees Previous experience in facility/area start-up environments Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch release Experience with root cause analysis/technical writing Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles Additional Information: Position may require travel to Lilly network sites to establish specific process knowledge and establish global contacts. Ability to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves etc.) This position is expected to work a Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM schedule.
