Overview/ Job Responsibilities
GDIT is seeking a User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Designer for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) to provide technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop, modernize, enhance, operate, and maintain services for OIS mission critical systems.
This role will support the Next Gen/Modernization development team, working with a team of Developers, Business Analysts, and Product Owners to support the design, creation, and maintenance of the OIS application, with a specific focus on improving the warfighter experience.
This position can be performed remotely; however
,
approximately 10% travel will be required for client meetings 4 times a year in Mechanicsburg, PA or Yorktown, VA
.
Primary Responsibilities:
The UI/UX Developer will be responsible for the following:
Conceiving and conducting user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
Design the overall customer-facing interface of the product and iterate upon it to ensure a great user experience
Facilitate the customers' and product owners' product visions by researching, conceiving, wire framing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences
Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions
Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features
Take a human-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs
Collaborate with back-end and front-end developers to improve usability
Take smart risks and champion new ideas
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers on all phases of the product development life cycle
Incorporate best practices for accessibility, usability, web performance, and design into the product and ultimately champion a more consistent and delightful user experience
Perform subjective and objective research both qualitatively and quantitatively, to gather deep end-user understanding
Perform usability/heuristic evaluations and validations across the product or solution life-cycle
Qualifications:
Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start; U.S. Citizen required only for Federal Clearance Requirement
BA/BS or equivalent experience
Minimum 6 years (or Masters or equivalent experience and 4+ years) of experience in UI/UX design and/or product development
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
Experience employing an iterative, user-centric design process in UX design/interactive prototyping
Experience with UI/UX toolsets: prototyping, wireframing, design, flow mapping tools (Figma, InVision, Balsamiq, Miro, or other similiar tools)
Experience taking input from multiple sources and synthesizing it into coherent design ideas
Experience defining interaction models, creating userflows, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes
Detail-oriented and a highly motivated self-starter that is able to work closely in a collaborative role with other team members
Excellent communication, collaboration and teaming skills and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Navy experience
Experience with CSS frameworks, JavaScript, jQuery
SAFe experience and knowledge
Designing for Mobile Applications
Knowledge of SEO principles
Understanding of and/or experience designing for 508 Compliance
Experience with Adobe Suite

The likely salary range for this position is $89,250 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
