The studio works with forward-thinking clients, cultural enterprises, and institutions to build cultural resonance and advance social agendas within the built environment.Job Description:Leong Leong is currently seeking a talented and motivated Designer to join our team in New York City. As a Designer, you will work closely with the Partner and project teams to design, coordinate and document through all phases of projects. Candidates must exhibit strong conceptual, design, communication and critical thinking skills.Responsibilities:
DesignDevelop design studies and options through renderings, drawings, models and other media.Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions.Source materials and conduct research to support the design of projects.Research and gain knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques and building and zoning codes.PresentationSupport the production of articulate, clear and organized internal presentations to facilitate the decision-making process. Discuss project ideas within your team, and in review settings with the Partner.Develop visual collateral including graphics, renderings and images for internal and client presentations.Develop and further curate the narrative of the project. Present design ideas to clients and other external project team members if requested.DocumentationSupport and execute the documentation of the project with minimal oversight in collaboration with project leadership.Take initiative in seeking guidance with office resources and advisors and/or peers when questions arise.Document critical code and accessibility requirements.Demonstrate a strong proficiency in Rhino and Revit for design and the production of architectural drawing sets.CoordinationIncorporate input from the project team including the client, consultant teams and contractor into the design.Prepare meeting minutes memorializing critical issues discussed and action items requiring follow-up.Communicate and coordinate the project design directly with consultants and contractors, if requested.Team and Project Management Assistance / CommunicationManage and complete tasks that have been delegated to you by your project team, and know when to ask and raise questions.Manage and supervise junior members of your project team. Delegate design and drawing tasks to junior members of your project team.Initiate design, research, and development related to assigned tasks that augment or advance the direction given by the project team.Demonstrate an ability to prioritize when given a list of simultaneous time sensitive tasks by both the team and external project team members, properly planning work that needs to be completed against project timelines.Support the filing and organization of all project documentation.Promptly respond to all forms of internal communication. Check-in and communicate regularly with the project team and leadership.Construction AdministrationBe able to complete and in some cases direct younger team members on what to look for when reviewing submittals and RFIs.Participate in consultant coordination both in the office and during site visits and meetings.Be able to leverage research with vendor materials and systems to solve project problems. Understand in the review and response to questions when code and zoning issues will need to be addressed.Be able to perform site visits and produce required field reports.Critical thinkingBe able to identify and analyze problems and develop and implement effective solutions.Be able to critically examine information and consider different perspectives, viewpoints, or alternative solutions.Be able to reflect and identify what was successful or not during a design process, learning from experience and continuously improving processes.Collaborate with team leaders on team activities and fulfill the role as mentor to younger designers.RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:
