The Daily Show is hiring a Segment Producer to be a part of the show’s TAG (Topical Assignments Group) department. TAG is responsible for producing all of the footage-driven segments for the show.
The ideal candidate will be charged with researching topics, pitching story ideas, gathering soundbites, and working closely with an editor to produce the various elements in the show’s headlines and deep-dive pieces. They must have expert knowledge and a passion for news, politics, and pop culture.
Job Responsibilities
- Brainstorm and pitch story ideas for headlines
- Continually monitor current events for show segments
- Showcase expert skills in footage and transcript-based research
- Collaborate with creative team to help shape the days headline
- Work closely with Avid editors to produce footage segments
- Respond with urgency to fulfill all post rehearsal changes for Live-to-Tape airing
Experience/Requirements
- 4+ years producing on Live / Live-to-Tape News, Late Night TV or Documentary
- Proficient in Snapstream, TV Eyes, LexisNexis and Youtube searching
- Vast knowledge of Archival / Stock footage / Music libraries
- Ability to work on extremely tight deadlines / turnaround times
- Demonstrate ability to become a quick study on any story assignment
- Display strong organization and communication skills when interfacing with the show’s writing, editing, and graphics departments as well control room
- Experience working with Avid and/or Adobe Premiere
