Job Summary/Description:
WLOX is looking for an experienced journalist to join our team as an Anchor/Reporter. We're looking for a newsroom leader who is energized by breaking news, developing sources, and cultivating community relationships in South Mississippi.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Anchor newscasts as assigned
- Conduct live interviews and anchor continuous coverage
- Help evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Contribute stories to all platforms - streaming, website, and social media
- Shoot, edit & write as a reporter
- Cover news in the field when necessary
- Represent the station in the community and for various promotional events
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multi-task and show composure, especially during high-pressure breaking news situations
- Demonstrate leadership skills to help guide coverage for our news team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- This position requires exceptional news judgment, a strong work ethic, and a desire to work with a team
- College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism related field is preferred
- MVR check required
