DescriptionWRAL-TV is seeking a Broadcast Technician to join our award-winning team. This role involves performing various news production duties, including audio board operations, audio setup, and studio setup, as well as other video production tasks. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Perform Audio Board Operations and Audio Setup: Manage the audio board during broadcasts, ensuring sound quality is optimal. Set up microphones, speakers, and other audio equipment before live productions, making adjustments as needed for clarity and balance.Assist in the Set-Up and Tear-Down of Equipment: Collaborate with team members to efficiently set up and dismantle production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear, ensuring everything is in working order for each production.Operate Studio Cameras: Control studio cameras during live broadcasts, following the director's instructions to capture the best angles and shots. Maintain a steady shot and be attentive to framing and composition.Operate Vest-Mounted Steadicam (as needed): If required, skillfully use the vest-mounted Steadicam for smooth, dynamic shots, enhancing the visual storytelling of the broadcast.Operate Teleprompter System: Manage the teleprompter during live broadcasts, ensuring the script flows smoothly for on-air talent. Assist in Lighting: Help set up and adjust studio lighting to achieve the desired look for each production. Proficiency in using a light meter is necessary to ensure proper lighting levels and quality.Maintain Cleanliness of the Studio: Regularly sweep, clean, and pick up trash from studio scenes and work areas. Maintain an organized and tidy environment to support a professional production atmosphere.Other duties as assigned related to the broadcasting technician role.Required Qualifications: Must have effective communication skills when working with team members, producers, and directors, both in writing and verbally, to ensure clarity and coordination during broadcasts.Ability to Follow Instructions and take direction from the producer and director accurately, executing tasks as specified to achieve the desired outcomes for each production.Must possess the ability to make prompt and effective decisions in fast-paced environments, ensuring smooth operations during live broadcasts.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
