Assists with the implementation of a strategic communications program to help build brand image.This role in summary:As the Sr. Manager of Communications for Community Relations and Whirlpool Foundation, this role supports the House+Home social responsibility strategy by guiding decisions on corporate giving and fostering transparency in how Whirlpool allocates time and resources. Acting as an extension of the company's values of Inclusion & Diversity, this role promotes equality and fairness within Whirlpool and the broader community. The Sr. Manager works closely with senior leaders, including company Presidents, CEOs, local government officials, and Whirlpool employees to strengthen the company’s connection with the Southwest Michigan community through impactful youth-focused programming. Serving as a liaison between Whirlpool employees leading key community projects and partnering organizations, the Sr. Manager ensures alignment, transparency, and collaborative success. Additionally, as the managing director of the Whirlpool Foundation, the role oversees grant administration, manages an annual budget of up to $9M, and leads reporting efforts to communicate the Foundation’s goals and results to both internal and external stakeholders.Your responsibilities will include:Serve as managing director of the Whirlpool Foundation, overseeing all aspects of grant administration, including audits, updates, budgeting, meeting minutes, and metrics reporting.Manage an annual foundation budget of up to $9M, approving small grants independently and presenting larger grants to the Foundation Board of Trustees for review and approval.Facilitate the quarterly convening of Foundation trustees for grant reviews and approvals.Work closely with the Foundation controller to ensure timely funding and reporting of projects to the trustees.Maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders, including CEOs of partner organizations, city mayors, and other state and city officials.Partner with employees and community organizations to develop strategies that enable community organizations to achieve meaningful impact.Oversee community organization metrics on outputs, outcomes, and impact, ensuring consistent measurement and reporting.Collaborate with Corporate Communications to share storytelling assets in the newsroom to promote the Foundation's initiatives and impact.Minimum requirements:Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field5+ years of experience in Foundation or Community Relations5+ years of experience in Project ManagementDemonstrated strength in building and fostering relationshipsPrevious experience with Executive presence working with C-suite executives, Presidents, and local government officialsProven experience with non-profit and philanthropic principlesPreferred skills and experiences:Proven ability to bring influence to difficult conversationsDemonstrated experience harnessing enthusiasm for community relations into strategic actions with impactful outcomesProven ability to work with across a matrixed organization (Whirlpool Corporation) and the community, bringing people together and leading a team to gather information and take actionProven strength in leadership skills, attention to detail, and critical follow-up executionProven strength in written communicationAdditional information:Whirlpool’s Ways of Working -Our goal is to provide an environment that helps you bring your best to Whirlpool every day.
