MEDA is looking for a Content Strategist to join our team and elevate the voice of our organization and of our clients across multiple platforms.
As a Content Strategist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop compelling narratives, visual stories, and public relations strategies that engage our audience and reflect our goals and mission. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Engagement, you will execute comprehensive communication plans, craft content, and enhance the visibility of MEDA’s mission to Help BIPOC Entrepreneurs Succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Development
- Develop diverse content formats including articles, reports, promotional copy, presentations, and scripts.
- Produce long-form content that makes complex topics accessible and engaging.
- Maintain and execute a content calendar for timely, relevant content delivery.
- Integrate data and research into in-depth stories showcasing the impact of our services.
- Collaborate with staff on visual storytelling through photography, video, and design projects.
- Public Relations
- Act as the day-to-day contact with MEDA’s PR agency.
- Conduct regular media outreach and coordinate media pitches, interviews, and supplemental material.
- Develop press releases, backgrounders, and talking points, etc.
- Serve as a spokesperson when needed.
- Track and report media hits to showcase earned media reach and impact.
Act as liaison with community partners (e.g. chambers of commerce) as assigned.
- Event Support
- Collaborate on event promotion and content development for key organizational events (Annual Gala, networking events, etc.).
- Attend events as needed to manage media presence and support event logistics.
Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. in communications, public relations, Journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or content strategy with a strong portfolio.
- Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
- Strong knowledge of content marketing best practices, SEO, social media, and email marketing.
- Ability to create visually engaging content, including charts and graphs and other representations of complex data.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 software programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, with the desire and ability to learn new software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in banking/finance, economic development, or minority businesses.
- Non-profit experience.
- Photography and video production skills.
- Bilingual fluency in English and either Spanish, Hmong, or Somali.
