Job Description
Job Summary
Serve in critical Senior Editor role as part of high performing team in support of doctrine publication for the Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Provide editorial support to Army doctrine publications and training/coaching to military/civilian authors.
Duties:
Edit doctrinal publications in various stages of development to produce high quality, clear, precise, and understandable writing that conforms with Army writing standards.
Edit content, figures, images, and tables.
Use various software packages and electronic publishing tools (e.g., MS Word and Adobe Acrobat).
Conduct training using a provided syllabus to document authors to improve clarity of writing and writing skills/style.
Clearance Requirements
Favorable background investigation or able to get one.
Required Skills, Qualifications & Certifications
Master’s degree in English, History, Technical Writing, Journalism or related field or a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience editing Army Doctrine.
Two years of experience in teaching within the disciplines of college level writing, history, or technical writing.
Proficient with MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
Certified in Microsoft Office Word Level 3 or ability to obtain certification.
Certified in Microsoft Office Level 1 or ability to obtain certification.
Favorable background investigation or able to get one.
