We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components. We are currently hiring for an Entry Level Designer/Estimator who would office out of our San Antonio, TX location and be responsible for learning how to design roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, and/or engineered wood products (EWP) for residential and commercial applications. Ideal candidates must be willing to train initially in Burlington, North Carolina for our January Design Trainee Class for 4-6 weeks (company will cover all costs - training is paid). Principle Duties and Responsibilities Prepare bids, layouts and engineered profiles using MiTek softwareDesign components as directed by managementWork with sales force to ensure that customers' requirements are metMaintain a good working relationship with fellow employeesAssist in training and development of other designers (as required)Work closely with retail clients, builders, framers and developers to answer design questions and offer design solutionsGrow and maintain strong customer relationshipsPlace orders within our productions systemPerform other work-related duties as assigned.Qualifications Drafting, CAD, construction, or framing background highly preferredComplete the Technical Training Program and successfully pass an assessment testDemonstrate the ability to read and understand blueprintsDemonstrate mathematical skills required to calculate concentrated and uniform loadsWorking knowledge of floor and roof systems and the ability to spec out beams and hangersGood analytical and problem-solving skillsDemonstrate the ability to work independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meeting deadlinesAbility to sit at a desk for long amounts of timeProficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speakingGood people skills with strong customer service attitude and proper phone etiquetteBenefits currently offered to our employees: Medical insuranceHealth savings account with company contributionDental insuranceVision insuranceBasic and voluntary life insuranceDisability insurance401(k) plan with company matchPaid vacation and holidaysStock purchase program with employee discountEducational reimbursementWellness programs and challengesOther supplemental benefitsThe Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
