Come see what VHB can do for you!VHB's Virginia team is a seeking a Bridge Technical Design Lead to expand our structural practice/capabilities across I-64 in Virginia. In this lead technical role, you'll be an integral part of the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects, from railroad to highway, as well as mentoring our structural team.Learn more about our Structures practice at VHB: Bridge and Structures Engineering | VHBResponsibilitiesOversees the technical design of structural engineering projects Project management/task managementPrepares proposals and/or contracts; Participates in project decisions regarding technical approach, costs, and schedulingDirects and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Performs quality reviews of team members work for accuracy and to ensure that the production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsManages, develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused transportation projectsSkills and AttributesStrong project management skillsMotivated to coach and mentor team membersExtensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineeringDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedKnowledge of structural engineering software (AASHTOWare, Midas Civil, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad)AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plusQualifications11-15 years of professional experience in structural bridge design, construction phasing, and complex bridge projects required (1 year of experience may be substituted for a Master's degree)15+ years of experience in structural bridge design preferredVDOT experience is preferredPE license requiredBS in Civil Engineering required (structural emphasis preferred)Master's degree with structural emphasis a plusExperience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and proceduresIndependent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysisWe are VHB!
