WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a passionate designer who has a focused interest in Innovation and functional performance-based apparel and how it intersects with modern culture. Someone who loves product and design and who can bring their unique creativity, craft & design-based problem-solving skills to Nike.WHAT YOU WILL WORK ONAs our Apparel Designer II in NXT, you will design functional apparel highlighting our newest technologies. With direction given from design leaders you will apply your design skills to create original innovative ideas that appropriately reflect Nike's design philosophy and solve the problems of our athletes. You will dream, collaborate, tinker, and make to help shape the future of Nike apparel. You will communicate design concepts utilizing programs such as illustrator, Clo, and VizCom to present concepts to the broader team. You'll prepare presentation materials that communicate those head to toe concepts, combining and communicating the art & science behind your work. As a part of the innovation team you will work ahead of schedule to deliver best in class innovation solutions that serve all our athletes including Men’s, Women’s and Kids. You'll monitor the development of prototype samples and interact with other product creation colleagues: pattern making, materials, apparel lab, field testing, the sample room, and our factory partners to exchange ideas and ensure timely completion of each project. You'll build awareness of current trends, color, technology and sports and lifestyle related products through research and travel. In addition, you'll provide design support throughout each season and gain valuable insights into all parts of the NXT Innovation process. You will connect with the internal partners to collaborate and build enthusiasm for your work.WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHYou will work closely with your design collogues and have mentorship from design leaders to actively gain experience, enhance design skills, build performance apparel expertise and increase knowledge of Nike's design philosophy, products and processes. You will also work closely and collaboratively with team members from other disciplines, and outside the NXT team including development and merchandising to ensure feasibility of product solutions, meeting price point, merchandising needs and creation timelines.WHAT YOU BRINGBachelor's degree or higher in apparel design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.At least 2 + years of relevant design experience exemplifying ability to push style and design, and/or proven experience in Apparel Design.Passion for designing- beyond drawing, into fabrication, draping, construction, and form.Ability to translate consumer knowledge/insights to narratives and product executions.Ability to expertly create concepts using Clo, exploring silhouette, pattern making reimagining existing materials and exploring new ones.Fluency in pattern making and garment construction to create physical mockups and complete garments, with consideration of every detail.Experience building inspiration/concept presentations, and mood boards to story tell collection concepts and direction.Participates in the communication and presentation of design concepts to internal and external audiences.Collaborate and build interpersonal connections within Design and adjacent functions Ability to create and edit files using Adobe programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, VizCom, NewArc, and/or Gravity SketchAbility in participating in multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines.Positive attitude and energy even under pressureCollaborator and works well with others.Gives and receives honest, clear feedback.Open minded, good listener and curious.Agile and flexible, operating across multiple projects simultaneously.A strong sensibility of style and trend.A passion for innovation, research, and problem solving.NIKE, Inc. is committed to employing a diverse workforce.
