Designer
A Los Angeles-based Apparel Company is looking for a Designer. Main job duties to assist the Senior Designer in all aspects of creating a line for the monthly market. Provides support in both creative, practical, and technical aspects of the design process. The ideal candidate must be hardworking, detail-oriented, organized, a team player, and work well in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
- Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
- Research and identify trends and styles for the monthly line.
- Collaborate with the Senior Designer to develop product styles, samples, and private label designs, ensuring samples meet calendar deadlines.
- Manage product development timelines, track progress, and provide updates to the Sr. Designer and Creative Director. Calendar management experience is crucial.
- Create, sketch, and develop approximately 100-150 garments per month.
- Hand off samples to each division for library keeping.
- Work with the production team on fabric and color approvals.
- Actively participate in fittings, providing clear feedback on fit, construction, and garment components.
- Request sketch revisions and updates from CAD artists as needed per account.
- Collaborate with pre-production Tech to ensure accurate BOM creation and costing.
What we are looking for:
- 4+ years’ experience as a Designer in Fashion/Apparel
- College degree in Fashion Design or experience equivalent
- Must have a strong sense of urgency in a deadline-driven environment
- Detail-oriented, ability to work in a fast environment, and a team player
- Knowledge of the wash/dye process, embellishments, and different fabrics
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently at all levels
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must know Adobe Illustrator
