Designer
The Designer 1 develops and oversees products for Abeka, Joyful Life, Rejoice Music, Abeka Collegiate Division, or Abeka Academy from concept to completion. The Designer should research appropriate designs, choose creative type, create effective color schemes, and coordinate with the production team to ensure the correct completion of projects.
Research Designs
Read the corresponding text and meet with the Writer/Editor to obtain a full understanding of the product. Find five sources to inspire the design. Develop original themed layouts for the book using effective design elements, art, photos, type, and colors. Verify the Abeka parameters for the product. Create exciting designs that bring energy to the pages.
Design Creative Type
Design book titles for various covers. Choose type in the headings and body text that is appropriate for grade level. Pick inviting fonts that will draw students and teachers in.
Create Effective Color Schemes
Use strong triad color schemes. Strive to coordinate colors well and pick colors that are up to date. Effectively implement color moods and color appropriateness for each grade level.
Coordinate with Artists and Illustrators
Oversee Production Artists to complete the layout of text. Work with Illustrators to develop age and theme-appropriate art. With Production Artists' help, creatively balance items on pages to make attractive spreads. Complete projects in a timely manner to meet all deadlines.

BA: Graphic Design (Required), MFA

2+ years in design

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop, Deadline Management, Learning Quickly, Microsoft Office, Operate standard office equipment, Stamina to perform typical office functions
