Job Description
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Truss Designer to join our team. As a Truss Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and drawings for various types of trusses used in construction projects. Your primary duties will include interpreting architectural plans and specifications, analyzing structural requirements, and using specialized software to design truss systems that meet building codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret architectural plans and specifications to determine truss requirements for construction projects.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and constraints.
- Use specialized software (such as MiTek, Alpine or Simpson) to create accurate and detailed truss designs.
- Analyze structural requirements and calculate load-bearing capacities to ensure truss designs meet safety standards and building codes.
- Select appropriate materials and components for truss construction, considering factors such as cost, durability, and sustainability.
- Produce comprehensive design drawings, including plans, elevations, and cross-sections, to communicate truss specifications to manufacturing teams and contractors.
- Review and revise truss designs based on feedback from stakeholders, regulatory authorities, or changes in project requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to truss design and construction.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in truss design, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform structural calculations and ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of construction materials, building methods, and industry best practices related to truss design and construction.
- Professional certification or licensure (e.g., Professional Engineer) may be preferred or required, depending on the jurisdiction and the specific requirements of the role.
