We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Highway Designer to join our New Haven, CT office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of conceptual design alternatives into contract plans, specifications, and construction estimates for highway, roadway bridge, interchange and draining projects
  • Assist in the design of ADA compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths and intersection curb ramps
  • Assist in the design and production of traffic control and staging plans and traffic, signing and striping plans
  • Assist in the production of engineering reports and other technical documents
  • Attend occasional field visits and meetings to gather data or assist in construction inspections
  • Create 2D and 3D design models with computer design software such as: AutoCAD, OpenRoads and AutoTurn
  • Work in coordination with H&H offices across the country to deliver projects that make roads safer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certification and prior internship experience (preferred)
  • Zero-three years of experience
  • Microstation V8i, Bentley OpenRoads experience (preferred)
  • Experience with CTDOT and/or the CTDOT Highway Design Manual (preferred)
  • Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in cooperative team environments
