Job Description
SUMMARY
The Mechanical Designer will perform engineering duties in designing and releasing automation and assembly equipment using SolidWorks software.
IN THIS ROLE, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL
- Designs automation, tooling, and assembly machines
- Uses customer quoted specifications and internal written line ups, and integrates these inputs into a viable machine design
- Responsible for integrating general and specific design guidelines established from past experience as well as using the integration of standard TA Systems components and assemblies in the designs
- Creates concept and final drawings using Solidworks software
- Responsible for designing in durability to the machine; calculating loads, masses, rates etc. to a predictable machine performance
- Shows dimensions, angles, curvatures, and relationships in drawings
- Utilizes knowledge of machine design practices to creatively address project challenges
- Selects materials and components to be used in the construction of equipment
- Creates detailed Bill of Material for engineering releases
- Responsible for keeping a job folder for the given project
- Responsible for issuing and revising drawings
- Reads and interprets technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Researches, designs, evaluates, and maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
- Develops and tests models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
- Any additional duties assigned by management
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and/or experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar
- 5 years of experience of direct field experience or equivalent
- Prior experience in machine design and SolidWorks
