Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Instructional Designer for Faulkner University Online. The qualified candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, subject matter experts (SMEs), and administrators to support online student learning through quality course design. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to Christ-centered Liberal Arts education, Christian service, the mission of Faulkner University, and the mission of the Faulkner University Online Department. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.

This is a full-time (40+ hours per week), 12-month position.

Summary of Duties:

  • Work with faculty/SMEs to create engaging and interactive learning activities and compelling course content; produce original multimedia to enrich online courses
  • Identify training needs for faculty/SMEs; provide appropriate group and one-on-one training
  • Evaluate and ensure all online courses meet quality standards
  • Assist in ensuring accurate and consistent documentation of online courses' compliance with the University's credit hour policy
  • Assist in ensuring the accessibility of the University's online courses to the diverse learners in consultation with the Center for Disability Services
  • Provide technical support for faculty in the creation and integration of online learning materials for use in the University's learning management system (e.g. Canvas)
  • Teach online (two courses per year) in an area consistent with academic qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field, OR master's degree and substantial experience in online course design, required
  • Experience in the following areas preferred:
    • Design and development of technology-based instructional methods
    • Ability to produce multimedia resources for use in an educational setting
    • Learning management systems (preferably Canvas)
    • Knowledge of Quality Matters
    • Knowledge of current instructional theories for engagement using web-based tools
    • Active member of the church of Christ
