Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesResearches, conceptualizes, and designs visual elements for use in a variety of marketing and communications needs, adhering to IU brand guidelines.Leads projects as necessary, works with Senior Designers, Creative Leaders, and key partners/stakeholders to determine project needs, ensures design aligns with strategy and objectives, and project is delivered on time and on budget.Designs for digital and print platforms, including selection of colors, images, fonts, logos, and placement for various marketing and communications needs, audiences, and channels.Creates concepts and art direct photography.Creates images, graphic elements, Illustrations, and other visual content using a variety of graphic software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Word.Regularly seeks input from peers, stakeholders, and creative leadership to evaluate effectiveness of creative concepts and executions.Understands and abides by UCM's standardized workflow and QC processes, and utilize appropriate project management tools.Seeks and pursues professional growth opportunities.May provide guidance to part-time Graphic Designers or interns.General Responsibilities Identifies basic and complex graphic design projects and performs research, conceptualizes design, sets timeline, and designs visual elements for use in a variety of marketing and communications needs, adhering to IU brand guidelines.Regularly consults with marketing and communications staff and other key stakeholders to determine project needs and ensure graphic design elements align with strategy and objectives.Designs the layout and format for digital and print graphic design content, including selection of colors, images, fonts, logos, and placement, for various marketing and communications needs, audiences, and platforms; may delegate basic design tasks to Graphic Design Assistant(s).Creates images, graphic elements, illustrations, and other visual content using a variety of graphic software, including Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint; takes on special and/or urgent projects.Seeks input from peers and stakeholders on a variety of graphic design elements to evaluate effectiveness of different aesthetics, colors, fonts, images, etc.May provide organizational training on graphic design methodology and strategy.May provide guidance to Graphic Design Assistants.QualificationsThis position is posted at the Career Career Level but may be filled at the Core Career Level depending on the candidate's qualifications.
