Currently we are accepting resumes for a talented, Senior Designer with a minimum of 15+ years experience working in the commercial architectural field to join our team. Preferably including a minimum of 5 to 10 years as a senior designer on a range of education projects. The position will offer the candidate opportunities to grow within the firm and thrive in an innovative, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment mentoring design professionals. Educational facility experience is a plus. At Huckabee, the Senior Designer is a design leadership focused role, providing design creativity, development, quality and mentorship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mentor, train and inspire all project team members on the thinking and use of our firm’s design tenets, philosophy and principles
- Research design and educational trends and apply them within the design solutions along with educating clients and project team members
- Lead, create, coordinate and review the on-going design process and its related activities for assigned projects
- Lead, create and review all design concepts and detailed solutions, in the form of in-person and virtual critiques, group collaboration and all forms of design review, to assure thoughtful and creative design is accomplished
- Facilitate design charrettes with stakeholders by leading and creating the production of the design concepts and solutions while soliciting contributions from all involved
- Review all design imagery and graphic content, re-assuring that it conveys design intent and quality
- Review and coordinate with all project teams for the development of client presentations
- Lead conversations with the client in partnership with other project leadership to develop design solutions that meet client expectations
- Work closely with Design Directors, to collectively align and communicate firm wide design standards, design vision and goals
- Lead design effort and client presentations, support client relationships
- Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions
- Participate in firm marketing, industry events and project interviews
REQUIREMENTS
- Active registered architectural licensure required
- Experience in a quality control effort in an architectural firm required
- Experience as a mentor and educator to architectural staff required
- Institutional facilities experience required; educational facilities experience preferred
- Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including, AutoCAD, Formit, Sketchup, BIM 360, PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator required and Revit preferred
- Proficiency in hand drawing (sketching) 2D/3D with team members and clients required
- Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
