We are seeking an experienced dealership Interior Designer who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop creative interior space solutions to meet customer needs. Designers coordinate and implement the design process on projects from the initial sales consultation through programming and preliminary design, specification, client presentation and working drawings. The designer will work together with assigned sales staff and project management. The projects will vary in size, complexity, scope and duration. Designers frequently engage in business development opportunities, presentations, RFP interviews, and participates in or leads customer engagement workshops.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customer at a high level to gather information and develop/maintain relationships.
- Provide full-service interior design services; to include custom/innovative solutions.
- Perform field measurements and inventory product.
- Conduct product research and contact vendors for pricing and information.
- Specify furniture required per final furniture layouts and select furniture finishes.
- Produce and present design concepts to customers.
- Generate, organize, and maintain CAD/CET files.
- Produce furniture floor plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specification, and installation drawings. Draw, revise, and plot design drawings.
- Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.
- Prepare design proposals.
- Estimate budgetary hours and manage and monitor project hours.
- Attend and engage in industry events.
- Develop professional networks with peers and clients/customers.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; CET Designer, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Revit background desired.
- Ability to co-design with clients and team members.
- Appreciation for interior design principles: texture, color, form, function, materiality balance, rhythm, repetition, proximity, symmetry, biophilia, historical precedent, sustainability.
- Requires attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven industry.
- Must be cooperative, with the ability to motivate and learn from others.
- Ability to apply design practices as well as knowledge of building codes, regulations, ADA, egress, occupancy, compartmentalization.
- Ability to provide friendly, professional service to internal staff and clients.
- Strong time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects, while taking ownership for project deliverables.
- Exceptional customer service skills with ability to provide solutions to client needs.
- Ability to draw/sketch by hand.
- Complex reading and writing skills.
- Accept feedback with a positive attitude.
Education / Experience
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Interior Design or Interior Architecture is required; three years of experience in the Interior Design field is preferred but not required. Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred.
2+ years prior experience at a furniture dealership is required.
