We're hiring in Deer Park, TX for a full-time Pipe Designer position. This is a primarily office based position with opportunity for onsite design/drafting as necessary. The designer will need to have general experience working with refinery/chemical plant projects that are fast paced in nature.
The candidate must be able to understand the scope of work, utilize laser scan data effectively, and create piping models/isometrics. You will be working semi collaboratively with the office team to deliver quality drawing packages that adhere to UPS Industrial Standards and client expectations. The designer must be proficient with AutoCad/CADWorx and working with laser scan data (point cloud).
Responsibilities
- Creating piping layouts and 3D models for piping systems using P&ID’s, pipe specs, and other information provided within a scope of work package to develop piping isometrics.
- Must have knowledge of basic pipe support requirements and best practices for pipe design.
- Will need to work at pace to meet project schedules/budgets but also ensure quality is maintained.
- Provide management with estimated time of completion for scope of work.
- Create drawing/deliverable packages that will be submitted to the client consisting of (P&ID modifications, ISO’s, reference documents, etc.).
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience as a piping designer (extensive time working in the field at a downstream facility or brownfield).
- Associate’s degree in Drafting or Design preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of a high school Diploma is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCad and CADWorx.
- Experience working with laser scan data (point cloud).
- Strong drafting ability and project organizational skills.
- Experience with piping design drawings and documents (piping plans, sections, details, isometrics, P&ID’s, piping specifications etc.)
- Attention to detail is a must to ensure a high quality is maintained.
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
- TWIC card holder is preferred.
