LaSalle Network is partnered with a leading American manufacturer of food and beverage packaging products, best known for producing foam cups and containers. They are seeking a Senior Industrial Designer due to growth!
Headquartered in Mason, Michigan, this manufacturer has been recognized for its disposable food service products, including foam, plastic and paper cups, plates and containers. They service some of the most recognized brands across the world. The Senior Industrial Designer will explore and conceptualize design solutions. This individual will lead innovation to develop design solutions and strategies to deliver the best possible creative solutions, for internal and external key stakeholders. This role is based in Mason, Michigan and offers relocation services.
Senior Industrial Designer Responsibilities:
- Prepare sketches, presentation renderings, physical mockups or 3-D finished models from verbal or written instructions, including new ideas for product designs, equipment and continuous improvement efforts
- Lead and manage technical projects in the conception of designs
- Create projects of large size, complex scope, long duration and collaborate as a leader or member of project teams on multi-disciplinary levels
- Collaborate with the development team to bring prototypes to completion as required
- Conceptualize ways of providing new and improved value to customers by translating marketing requirements into compelling product solutions
- Lead troubleshooting and analysis of problems to identify, evaluate and implement solutions
- Create original packaging proposals for all Sales Divisions based on research, marketing and consumer trends
- Lead internal and external ideation sessions
- Create internal and external product concept pitch decks
- Lead and participate in internal and external product concept presentations
- Evaluate design options, develop and push to find 'big ideas' based on design strategy and creative brief
- Evaluate and develop competitive and breakthrough design strategies and plans
- Partner and interact with internal teams and clients to showcase your passion for creative excellence, branding, packaging and visual communication
- Develop mentorship program for junior design team
Senior Industrial Designer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in industrial design, product design or related design field of study
- 5+ years of industrial design experience in packaging industry
- Experience within a brand/design agency is a plus
- Experience independently leading design development projects utilizing project management and design strategies
- Outstanding Adobe Creative Suite skills, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- An impressive branding and packaging portfolio, demonstrating recent work with a track record of creative idea generation, strategy and development
- Experience with prototyping (3D printing, CNC, metal/wood/foam fabrication)
- Strong observational skills, end user empathy and the ability to identify insights from various forms of qualitative research
- Strong verbal and graphical communication skills for effective design concept presentation
- High proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Fusion 360, Solidworks or Rhino
- High proficiency with Rendering software such as KeyShot, Unity or Blender
- Industrial design experience with food service packaging preferred
- Ability to utilize hand and mechanical measuring systems, experience with 3D scanning preferred
