Our IP strategy positions us well for this, and we are enthusiastic about the future!There's never been a more exciting time in the company's history to join SEGA!Job Summary:Reporting to the Senior Manager of Creative Service, the Senior Graphic Designer will be an important creative role in the continued growth of the Sonic the Hedgehog and SEGA brand globally across various businesses including consumer products, Licensing, Games, marketing, film, TV, animated content. This person will work with the Licensing Consumer Products, Marketing and Animation teams to provide Brand support to help grow their respective businesses.The Senior Graphic Designer position will oversee the development and execution of the creative for the entire Sonic the Hedgehog brand across all areas as well as supporting some SEGA brands, especially with a focus on consumers products and with the goal of celebrating the Sonic IP and entertaining, engaging, and educating new and existing audiences worldwide. The role will require experience in consumer products design, softline and hardline creative development, style guide, trend research, trend board design, packaging for toys and video games, online assets for marketing and first party portals.This role will interface closely with teams in Burbank (CA), Orange County (CA), England and in Japan. We are looking for a team member welcoming and proponent of this work environment.Who You Are:The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing compelling consumer products, licensing assets, video games and toys packaging, researching, and creating consumer products trend guides. This role includes creating communication materials in digital and printed media while working in a fast-paced environment.In this role the Designer will frequently be tasked with delivering multiple creative solutions to support the Sonic Team, while partnering closely with other Designers, licensing and marketing team, external creative agencies as well as licensees and first party portal.Duties and Responsibilities:Work closely with creative service manager and creative director, Licensing, marketing and brand managers in the development of creative assets.Supporting the consumer products development teams and ensuring alignment of brand and design vision for the Sonic The Hedgehog brand and Sega IP.Being creative in the execution of licensing consumer products trend and seasonal guides and product concept designs, marketing materials (printed material, emails, display banners, social media assets, seasonal campaigns and sales), booth designs for events, website assets, presentation decks and more.Provide constructive feedback to the in-house creative team, external contract media experts, creative agencies, illustrators, graphic designers, licensees and print vendors.Create brand guidelines and concept decks for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sega IPs, product lines, marketing and social content.Provide full creative support to large-scale events, booth and large display design, promotional items and print/online advertisingDevelop creative assets for campaigns across multiple areas of the Sonic business.Deliver assets to internal partner organizations and external partners when necessary.You will be responsible for maintaining full awareness of all aspects of the creative process from concept to approval. You will work closely with the creative service managers to make sure brand standard and deadline are met, and things keep moving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Join design activities such as brainstorm and research sessions to support ongoing creative needs and brand development.Mentor designers with instructional technique demonstrations, encourage questions, give shout-outs for awesome work, and be willing to jump in and lead by example.Contribute to the development and implementation of creative templates and workflows to improve productivity across the creative team.Champion and evolve the voice of the Sonic the Hedgehog brand for our core audience and the next generation of fans.Travel as necessary to meet project needs and attend industry related events.Other duties as assigned.Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons: For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation.To enhance understanding of our stakeholders' work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.QualificationsQualifications and Skills: Bachelors Degree in Design required with minimum 5-8+ years of hands-on brand and consumer products/licensing/packaging/graphic design experience.Should have full-time agency-side and/or client-side experience.Strong conceptual design skills, licensing products, trend guide, package design and design strategy experienceShould have experience in design for all categories including apparel, bags, backpacks, bedding, bath accessories, food, beauty, and more.Extraordinary design taste and expertise with an excellent sense of design trends and fast fashion.360 brand design experience (i.e., print, color processing, packaging, digital)Proficiency in Adobe products or other relevant applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Must be a Photoshop and Illustrator guru: you can take a concept illustration and create a photo-realistic product image from basically nothing.Illustration skills highly preferredMotion graphics is a plus!Systems design thinker (packaging architecture and visual identity systems)Effectively communicates (verbally and written) with internal and external business partnersCollaborative and works well with others to deliver results; keep others informed to avoid unnecessary surprisesInterest and understanding of consumer products, gaming, anime, entertainment, toys, marketing & advertising trends of today's media landscape, and how people engage with advertising.Ability to multi-task. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and meet project deadlines. Creativity, critical thinking, business understanding, communication, organizational skills, and advanced design strategy and technical skills are all required. You must be able to self-organize and handle a large volume of work.
