OVERVIEW: The Designer in Store Planning is responsible for developing and executing innovative design solutions for retail environments, from initial concept through detailed technical drawings. This role combines creative design skills with technical drafting expertise to create functional, aesthetically pleasing store layouts and fixtures that align with brand identity and operational requirements that elevate customer experience and align with Kering Beauté's brand identity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning & Design:
Collaborate with the Head of Retail Operations, Store Planning & Construction to develop and execute Store Planning strategies for all Kering Beauté Americas brands.
Conduct space planning analyses to maximize efficiency, optimize store layouts, and enhance customer flow.
Develop and implement design concepts packages, including layout, fixtures, flooring, lighting, and visual displays, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and brand guidelines.
Technical Design, Drafting & Documentation:
Produce detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and sections, using CAD software and 3D rendering software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max).
Develop accurate and comprehensive construction documents to support design implementation and renovation projects.
Source and specify materials, furnishings, and fixtures that align with budgetary and design criteria.
Prepare presentation materials, including renderings and visualizations, for stakeholder approval and feedback.
Project Management & Coordination:
Oversee the implementation of designs by coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring that designs are accurately implemented and addressing any issues that arise.
Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable terms, quality products, and timely delivery.
Monitor project expenditures and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining design integrity.
Quality Assurance:
Review and verify design drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards and regulations.
Ensure that all design elements meet brand guidelines and operational requirements.
Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative practices into store design projects.
Documentation and Coordination:
Maintain organized and up-to-date drawing files, design documentation, and project records.
Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication and execution of design plans.
Revisions and Updates:
Make necessary revisions to design plans based on feedback from stakeholders or changes in project scope.
Update drawings and documentation to reflect changes in design, materials, or construction methods.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure that all designs and technical drawings comply with industry regulations, building codes, and company standards.
Stay informed about current design trends, best practices, and technological advancements in retail design.
Administrative Support:
Assist with project setup, including organizing documents, creating project files, and maintaining printed drawing sets.
Maintain CAD fixture and materials libraries and assist with project-related sample procurement.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of design packages and standards.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
5 years’ experience in retail design and drafting, including experience with CAD software and technical drawing.
Demonstrated ability to create both creative design concepts and detailed technical drawings.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and design tools.
Proficiency in rendering software (e.g., 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
Strong understanding of design principles, construction methods, and building codes.
Strong creative problem-solving abilities combined with attention to detail in drafting and documentation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with design teams, architects, and project managers.
Ability to present design concepts and technical drawings clearly to various stakeholders.
