Job Title: Tool & Die Designer (All Plants)

Reports to: Department Supervisor at specific Business Unit

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Monday through Friday (6a to 2:30p) extended hours may be required to support business needs

Salary Range: 80K-110K

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible for designing new tools and stamping dies. He/she will have strong AutoCAD Inventor with at least 2 years in die design, and a Journeyman’s card is a plus.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for design of new tooling.
  2. Responsible for design of stamping dies.
  3. Manage the bill of materials for all designs.
  4. Create/update detailed drawings for manufacturing with CAD systems.
  5. Collaborate with engineers to develop conceptual, preliminary, and detail designs.
  6. Design preliminary sketches of dies for review.
  7. Ensure strip layouts/drawings meet customer specifications/quotes.
  8. Consult at design review meetings to determine customer requirements, production issues and timing considerations
  9. Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, or modify existing tooling, tools for old or new jobs.
  10. Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.

Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

  1. A minimum of five years’ experience in Tool & Die Designs
  2. Advanced training through an accredited program and experience in tool and die design/engineering.
  3. Experience with computer operating systems and related software (WINDOWS, MS Office Products)..
  4. Ability to read/interpret specifications, blueprints/drawings, and other technical data.
  5. 3D modeling experience
  6. Geometric Intolerance experience
  7. Extensive knowledge of CAD systems, AutoCAD
  8. CAD design experience preferred
  9. Journeyman Tool & Die Maker / Repair preferred

Physical environment/working conditions:

The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.

Must maintain confidential information (e.g., customer contacts, sales information, designs, etc.)

Must be able to work as part of a team.
