WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

The Civil Designer is responsible for the design of civil infrastructure including civil paving, water, sewer, grading and storm drainage. This role is responsible for drafting and producing complex construction documents. They will assist the Discipline Lead and/or Project Engineer with reporting, specifications, plans, construction time opinions, cost opinions and permitting. They will also mentor and train Technician staff.

Once selected to join our team, you will:

  • Responsible for the design of civil paving, water, sewer, grading and storm drainage infrastructure
  • Draft and produce complex construction documents
  • Interpret engineer’s rough sketches to create and edit plans/drawings
  • Assist Discipline Lead and/or Project Engineer in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction time opinions, cost opinions and permitting for projects
  • Conduct property and existing utility research as needed on specific projects
  • Conduct job site visits and attend final walk-throughs as needed
  • Mentor and train Technician staff
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Broad knowledge of the civil engineering field
  • Advanced understanding of drafting concepts and CAD fundamentals
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Advanced knowledge of civil design, permitting, and construction concepts
  • Understanding of key concepts and terminology used in the civil engineering field
  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of prior drafting experience
  • At least 1 year of design experience

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree or Technical School Graduate in Computer Aided Drafting & Design
  • CAD Certificate Preferred
