External DescriptionSenior Piping DesignerWaggaman, LAImmediate NeedPTO, Benefits, and 401kLong term contracted roleThis position is not open to international candidates, and does not offer relocation or per diem.Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Piping Designer to be part of a project team headquartered in Waggaman LA. The Senior Piping Designer's responsibilities will include total delivery of the mechanical and piping deliverables and services to support plant operating and outage schedules, while also meeting quality expectations. Duties will include performing design work, assembling MOC and IFC packages. This position requires experience in mechanical and piping design and involves utilization of computer aided design software. This person must collaborate with and support engineering and field construction activities.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Key Areas of Responsibility will include: Familiarity with and utilizing design and drafting standards.Recognizing and communicating project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.Assistance during construction.Providing technical guidance on piping design.Producing mechanical and piping installation specifications with engineering review and approval.Understanding of the skills and experience required to perform design functions.Participating in squad checks to ensure coordination between the design disciplines.Checking calculations made by other designers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.Determining construction quantities and provide construction cost estimates.Delegating work to off site designers and drafters and following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality of job packages.Consulting with Engineers from other disciplines in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality.Collect and manage laser scan data for the site.Support PSM documentation control for drawings.Convert PDF drawings to AutoCAD.Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety.Additional duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position: Knowledge and application of piping materials and specifications.Familiarity with relevant API, ASME codes.Design of moderately complex process and utility piping systems.Knowledge and application and design of piping supports and restraints.Knowledge of Stress and Flexibility analysis of piping system.Knowledge of manual valve sizing, use and application.Knowledge of good design practices for sizing all piping systems.Identification of need, application of steam traps and liquid drainers.Identification of need, application of safety valves and devices to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping systems.Selecting piping specialty items given the design criteria.Drafting of P ID's and GA's.Design of piping limited specific equipment and inline instrumentation arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc.Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.Ability to create accurate mechanical/piping installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.Knowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow through MOC Procedures.Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements to meet outage and Turnaround requirements.Ability to develop mechanical/piping installation specifications with review and approval.Knowledge and application of engineering design and CAD drafting standards.Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD, CADWorx (preferred), Navisworks (or other 3D modeling).Ability to laser scan.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Good communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Engineering team.The ability to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledNo Recruiters Please!#LI-LL1Working at AudubonClient-focused.
