At Goertek, the Industrial Design team is dedicated to creating products that are inspiring, aesthetically beautiful, and innovative. We use a human-centered design approach to guide our decisions by collaborating closely with our Human Factors team. Additionally, we elevate our innovation and product appearance by working with the CMF team on Material research. The Industrial Design team has two key responsibilities: one interacts with customers through Join Design Manufacturing, and another that leads R&D on design projects aimed at achieving proofs of concept or new product introductions, serving as a reference for our technology clients and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Responsible for industrial design innovation projects on AR/VR and its accessories/smart audio/smart wearables/smart home products. Prepare documents for Design award applications, patents and design guidelines. Research tech trends, material insights, user observations, books, website research, patents, and scientific studies. A focused mindset for verifying, planning, and executing holistic tasks in industrial design, sketching, ideation, 3D modeling, mock-ups, rendering, and appearance models. Collaborating with other teams to oversee the entire design system and conduct pre-research for innovation potential. Prepare the product design document specifications in collaboration with teams like CMF, Human-Machine, and UED, and coordinate with Product Management the follow-up efforts with system engineering, Material science, Mechanical design, among others. Co-Manage the complete design system and perform preliminary research to identify innovation opportunities. Collaborate with teams including CMF, Human-Machine, and UED to prepare the product design document specifications, and work with Product Management on follow-up projects involving system engineering, material science, mechanical design, and other areas. Capable of effectively communicating with customers to meet their design needs and collaborating with the R&D team to ensure high-quality industrial design services from conceptualization to the delivery of final POC, NPI, or MP. Curiosity to explore unfamiliar areas, especially in Technology and Human Factors. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial design-related educational background. At least 5 years of working experience in Industrial design field, with project experience and results of mass-produced designs, POCs, NPIs, Appearance model or Prototypes. Proficient with CAD design software and rendering, capable of turning concepts into high-quality design solutions, and good understanding about volume, product manufacturing and materials. Be able to travel long business trips by flight or train occasionally to Asia. The base pay range for this role is between $127,029 and $177,840 annually and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Preferred Skills Curiosity to explore unfamiliar areas, especially in Technology and Human Factors. Familiarity with CMF is a plus. Familiarity with Human Factors is a plus. Advanced Mandarin and Japanese languages are a plus. Physical Requirements Being able to carry occasionally models, briefcases and luggage containing Prototype, Mock-up and Appearance Models.
