The Role

As a founding member of our Product Design team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and research teams, to create user-centered designs.

We are building full-stack AI products that are trained to unlock collaborative capabilities that far exceed what could be achieved today; you will play a key role in defining our product interface and pioneering new capabilities in how enterprise workflow decisions can be automated at scale.

Location: This role is based in SF. We work five days a week onsite, and we are located in SoMA.

What you’ll be working on

  • Lead the design of our product features and end-to-end user experience, ensuring the product is intuitive, visually appealing, and functionally sets the bar in the industry.
  • Work closely with our design partners to understand how Essential’s product will integrate into their workflow.
  • Imagine, design, iterate, and build beautiful UX patterns to rethink how companies and businesses will interact with data.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of professional experience designing for web-based, prosumer SaaS applications (e.g. Notion, Figma, Miro, Canva) and tools. Highly proficient in Figma.
  • Demonstrated deep interest and/or prior exposure to design patterns for working with generative AI models.
  • Experience in shipping 0→1 products and demonstrated ability to do rapid prototyping.
  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems/component libraries from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end design process, from brainstorming to prototyping and visual design to post-launch research and iteration.
  • Champion great design and UX patterns throughout our culture and product.
  • Willingness to be scrappy and ship fast.
  • (Bonus) Ability to write frontend code.

We encourage you to apply for this position even if you don’t check all of the above requirements but want to spend time pushing on these techniques.

We offer relocation assistance to new employees.

The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is up to $225,000 in San Francisco, CA.
