As a Water/Wastewater Designer, you are the architect of systems that ensure clean, safe water for everyone and protect our environment from pollution. Your innovative designs and meticulous planning are crucial in tackling one of the world’s most pressing challenges. ISG is excited to bolster our team with Water/Wastewater Designer with specific Autodesk Plant 3D experience. Our Water/Wastewater team serves the essential Municipal and Industrial clients throughout the entire US and are comprised of employee owners in Sioux Falls, Storm Lake, Des Moines, and St. Louis Park offices. We are a full-service, multi-disciplinary team, who perform award winning work in planning, design, survey, and construction.


As an ISG Employee Owner, you would work directly with Casey Patton, our Water/Wastewater Practice Group Leader, also located in Des Moines.

Here are some projects we’ve worked on recently that might give you a better sense of what you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Flour Mill Retrofit – ISG developed a digital twin model of a multi-floor, multi-process mill to assist in the placement of new equipment and routing piping to and from the equipment. As a Senior Designer, you would lead the team in the creation of the Plant3D model of the existing and proposed conditions.
  • Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment – ISG regularly works with industries throughout the nation to help them safely reduce their strength of their wastewater to domestic levels suitable for treatment by municipalities. Senior Designers are involved in the development of Plant3D models of the piping, pumping, and treatment equipment necessary, along with the development of construction documents communicating our design intent to contractors for construction.

Who we are looking for:

  • A team player who is excited to engage with a collaborative team at a growing architecture and engineering firm
  • A visionary who can influence and facilitate the development of water/wastewater design
  • A Senior Designer who diligently strategizes with key stakeholders and peers to complete deliverables

What you will perform:

  • Customize in AutoCAD Plant 3D to create detailed project documentation including; piping & equipment layouts, process flow diagrams (PFD’s), P&IDs, review vendor drawings/cut sheets
  • Create new piping specifications and troubleshoot in AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Create, build, and populate reports from P&IDs & 3D models using AutoCAD Plant 3D Report Creator
  • Utilize Ortho sheet creation, equipment modeling, and piping modeling in Plant 3D
  • Utilize Autodesk Navisworks Manage to review 3D models
  • Conducting field observation and inspection during/after construction phases
  • Coordinate with engineers/designers on the production of project deliverables
  • Collaborate with other ISG disciplines to create functional, detailed, and sustainable designs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Drafting and Design preferred. Equivalent recent work experience may be accepted in lieu of education
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledgeable in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant3D software is required
  • Experience with creating, reading, and understanding P&IDs is required
  • Design principles and best practices for water/wastewater treatment systems
  • Understanding of the following systems is beneficial, but not required: chemical storage and feed systems, solids handling, blowers, pumps, and water treatment equipment
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team to meet project schedules and deadlines
