Job Description
Senior Graphic Designer
L & J.G. Stickley, Inc., a renowned American furniture icon for over 120 years, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Graphic Designer to elevate our brand through high-quality creative output across various channels. This role requires a highly collaborative individual capable of working closely with the marketing team, junior designers, and external partners to produce visually engaging content for both digital and print platforms. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, passionate about design, and adept at leading creative efforts to enhance brand presence and meet business objectives. This full-time position is based in our Manlius, NY office and reports to the Director of Marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creative Execution:
- Lead designer in the development of creative assets for web, print, video, and digital marketing collateral in support of retail, wholesale, and brand channels.
- Art production of sales sheets, catalogs, product indexes, promotional mailers, in-store signage, and national and local advertising.
- Responsible for creation of social media graphics, website visuals, email graphics, and digital display ads.
- Provide art direction for photoshoots, 3D rendering, video, and TV spots. Ensuring on-brand visuals that resonate with target audiences.
- Oversee post-production processes, selecting visuals and finalizing designs.
- Brand Consistency and Innovation:
- Establish and maintain brand-appropriate creative approaches that differentiate Stickley in the market.
- Ensure visuals align with the brand and effectively engage target audiences.
- Develop and communicate visual strategies that support Stickley's brand story across all customer touchpoints.
- Stay up-to-date on design trends, tools, and industry best practices to continuously improve the quality and relevance of creative output.
- Project Management and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the creative and marketing teams to translate campaign objectives into compelling visuals for product launches, sales events, and brand initiatives.
- Guide and mentor junior designersto foster creative growth and maintain design quality, offering feedback and ensuring all creative output meets high standards of quality and effectiveness.
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure that all creative work is delivered on time and within budget.
- Communicate proactively with internal teams and external vendors to manage project timelines and expectations.
- Vendor and Production Oversight:
- Coordinate with external vendors to produce print materials, ensuring high-quality output for sales materials, advertising, and promotional events.
- Review and approve print proofs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with design intent and brand guidelines.
- Maintain relationships with photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, and other creative professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in graphic design or art direction, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both print and digital media.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in digital marketing, web design, and e-commerce, with a focus on enhancing user engagement and brand visibility.
- Experience in photo shoot direction and post-production processes.
- Knowledge of video production, including storyboarding and editing.
- Proven experience working with cross-functional teams to develop integrated marketing campaigns.
- Strong understanding of layout principles, typography, color theory, and design best practices.
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, managing deadlines and prioritizing effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the furniture or home goods industry is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with UX/UI design principles is a plus.
- Experience in BaseCamp helpful.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time, office-based role in Manlius, NY. Occasional travel may be required.
