We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Structural Designer to join our team in Parlin, NJ.
Job Description: The Senior Structural Designer will be responsible for leading the design and analysis of structural components for various projects, including, but not limited to, bridges, culverts, dams, buildings and other special structures. This role requires a deep understanding of structural engineering principles, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Structural Design and Analysis: Lead the design and analysis of structural systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, NJDOT, ACI, ASCE, IBC NJ Edition, etc.).
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, as well as working and supervising junior staff assigned to these projects.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed structural design calculations, construction drawings, specifications, technical reports and construction cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits and construction engineering inspections to ensure that construction activities conform to design specifications and standards. Visual and/or hands-on inspection of bridges, dams, buildings and other structures will also be required.
- Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New Jersey is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3-D, RISA Floor, RISA Foundation, CONSPAN, PennDOT design software, Mathcad, Shoring Suite and others)and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
