We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Editor with 3-5 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing technical documents, with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our reports, proposals, and other documents are accurate, clear, and aligned with industry standards and client expectations. This position is based at one of our office locations and follows our hybrid work policy.


The Role

  • Edit and proofread technical reports, proposals, and other documents for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with project managers and internal clients to ensure that content meets the required standards and is consistent with Terraphase’s style guide.
  • Ensure that all documents adhere to Terraphase guidelines, Terraphase Style Guide, client requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Use Terraphase’s established calendar system to track project deadlines and coordinate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely submissions.
  • Leverage the company’s Technical Editing Center to streamline the editing process, maintain consistency across documents, and ensure alignment with team expectations and project requirements.
  • Work closely with the team to disseminate priorities, break down tasks, and allocate responsibilities. Focus work based on each team member’s strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality documents.
  • Provide constructive feedback to authors and contribute to the continuous improvement of document quality.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of environmental consulting terminology and practices.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Environmental Science, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a technical editor, preferably in environmental consulting or a similar technical industry.
  • Exceptional editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of environmental terminology and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.

Salary

Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location with a range of $66,199 to $90,000.
