Technical Writer Editor Technical Publications

A Technical Writer Editor in Technical Publications is responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing technical documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established guidelines. They collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation. They also proofread and edit technical content to ensure consistency, grammar, and adherence to style guides. Additionally, they may participate in document planning, organization, and version control. The Technical Writer Editor plays a critical role in delivering high-quality technical documentation that supports the needs of end-users and enhances the overall user experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technical Writer Editor Technical Publications: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Technical Writer Editor Technical Publications Responsibilities Include:
  • Assists with the validation/verification, discrepancy/deficiency resolution, and accuracy/adequacy assessment of technical publication requirements.
  • Provides support with the life cycle management of technical publications.
  • Provides support with developing, promulgating, amending, and maintaining technical publications used to support the CG Surface Community.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Technical Writer Editor Technical Publications Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Minimum education requirement of an associate's degree or at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
  • Demonstrates good written communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications.
  • Experience in writing, editing and managing technical documentation and operator/maintenance manuals for military systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable military standards, specifications and test practices.
  • Must be able to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results.
  • Must be able to gain an understanding of technical requirements, government standards/specifications, and Coast Guard directives which are used for the lifecycle management of technical information.
  • Must gain a working level understating of CG-LIMS STIP.
  • Track and monitor workflow of documents from inception to final distribution.
  • Provide quality assurance check for all document deliverables to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Utilize appropriate computer software applications, such as MS Word or Adobe, for document text production.
  • Investigate and implement best ways to produce documentation electronically.
  • Establish and maintain electronic and/or hardcopy data library of documents and work order files for documents received for processing.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screens is required.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
