Join the team at Kate Marker Interiors (KMI) as a Junior Designer, where you will play an integral role in supporting client design projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with the design team to ensure the timely delivery of projects within budget, and timelines. As a Junior Designer at KMI, you will actively participate in markets and vendor presentations, enhancing your knowledge of the industry as it evolves.
The successful applicant will be part of the design team. Junior Designers collaborate with Kate Marker, lead designers, vendors, contractors, procurement manager and operations director at KMI and clients to find solutions that accomplish the clients’ design goals. The successful applicant will be motivated, highly organized, and have a positive attitude. The position is full-time and in person at our Barrington, IL studio.
Key Responsibilities:Organize, edit & maintain KMI material libraries.Organize meetings with vendors to review new material (ie. tile, wallpaper, fabrics, etc.) in material library.Develop/maintain relationships with new and existing clients, contractors, and vendors.Assist in product pricing and proposal curation for clients.Create and revise various Keynote presentations including; plumbing specifications, lighting selections, finish/paint schedules, window treatment plans, hardware/bath accessory selections, pillow templates, etc.Organize and prep material (print documents, gather samples, etc.) for all on site/in person client meetings.Assist Kate/lead designer on site with client meetings (take notes,, answer questions, present samples) and follow up with thorough meeting notes.Use AutoCAD to curate lighting elevations, check mirror sizes, update floor plans, and other small tasks.Responsible for assisting Kate/lead designer on site during client installation days.
Other duties will include contacting vendors and contractors; researching new products and vendors; and making selections for furniture, fixtures, etc.; and assisting with installations.
Minimum Qualifications :Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior DesignDemonstrate solid knowledge of the residential design industryStrong organizational and time management skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Utilize AutoCAD, Studio Designer, KeyNote **Revit would be a plusTravel is required on occasion for client projects and continuing education.
