Position Summary

IEM is seeking an Instructional Designer to develop effective, engaging learning experiences and materials to support organizational goals. This role involves analyzing training needs, designing instructional strategies, and creating multimedia learning content. The Instructional Designer works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and instructional technologies to develop courses, e-learning modules, assessments, and training materials that align with best practices in adult learning. Strong emphasis is placed on ensuring content is aligned with the learner’s needs, whether for online, in-person, or hybrid formats.

Responsibilities:

1.Learning Needs Analysis

a. Collaborate with SMEs to assess training needs.

b. Partner with the Learning Programs Manager to identify and understand training needs and performance gaps.

c. Schedule and lead SME intake calls to gather information to support the development of training materials.

2. Instructional Design

a. Create interactive e-learning modules, presentations, job aids, and assessments

b. Develop instructional strategies based on adult learning principles (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create engaging content.

c. Design courses that address specific learning objectives and align with business goals.

3. Content Development

a. Create multimedia content using tools such as Articulate, Synthesia, DeepHow, Vyond, MS Office, or similar tools.

b. Develop learning materials such as facilitator guides, participant handouts, job aids, and assessments.

c. Use audio visual equipment (iPad, Camera with Gimbal, Noise Canceling Microphone, etc.) to record video demonstrations/audio recordings.

d. Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions with Learning and Development Facilitators, as needed.

e. Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver, track, and assess training programs.

4. Evaluation and Improvement

a. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and revise content based on feedback, performance data, and business needs.

b. Implement assessment strategies (e.g., quizzes, performance metrics) to measure learning outcomes and the overall effectiveness of training programs.

5. Project Management

a. Manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with organizational goals.

b. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure learning solutions are aligned with company standards.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of instructional design models and tools (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).

• Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, DeepHow, Synthesia).

• Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) is helpful but not always essential.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Soft Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.

• Attention to detail in content creation and formatting.

• Creative problem-solving and innovation in learning design.

• Organizational skills to manage multiple projects or deadlines.

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in instructional design or related field (internships and entry-level positions acceptable for beginners).

• Prior experience in teaching or training preferred.

Job Type

• May be located at an IEM site or remote.

• Full-time position with standard office hours. Some travel may be required depending on project needs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field preferred.
