Fox45 News Project Baltimore is looking for a dynamic Investigative News Producer to join our award-winning team. Our mission is to hold school leaders across Maryland accountable
to ensure they serve parents, students, teachers and taxpayers.
We aim to offer audiences on multiple platforms content that impacts their lives. Project Baltimore has investigated educational issues in Maryland since 2017. The team’s impact includes numerous changes in state legislation and adjustments in school policy. Project Baltimore has been recognized by NATAS, IRE, NPPA, SPJ, the RTDNA, NAACP and the Associated Press for its investigative Reporting work
The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment, compelling writing skills and possess digital skills to identify and post engaging, timely and relevant content; monitor competitive social media practices, and work in line with the team’s overall content strategy. Knowledge of the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) process, and familiarity of legal issues related to investigative television news reporting are both important.

Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain contacts and sources in the community to enterprise story ideas
Identify and pitch investigative angles on education-related stories
Work with Executive Producer & Investigative Reporter to refine investigative pitches and story scripts
Write online versions of investigative reports and produce digital specific content for each investigation
Monitor social media platforms and community conversations related to the investigative topics probed by the team.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Three (3) years of investigative producing experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Must be a strong storyteller with the ability to make the complicated understandable
Must be able to use all available tools to enhance stories, from graphics to social media
Should be able to generate story ideas and determine the legitimacy of viewer tips
Strong writer, storyteller
Must be naturally inquisitive with an interest in holding government officials accountable

The base salary compensation range for this role is $62,400-$75,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
