This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong architectural design expertise, technical skills in AutoCAD and 3D design software, and a solid understanding of building codes and space planning. The ideal candidate will excel in creating innovative design solutions, preparing construction documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations. The position is full-time, W2, and onsite in Los Angeles, CA.Key Responsibilities:• Space Planning & Long-Range Planning: Analyze operational requirements, determine space needs, and provide recommendations for long-term facility planning and alterations.• Restacking Plan Administration: Support the review of related documents, respond to clarifications, and prepare drawings for space modifications.• Architectural Design: Develop scope of work and architectural design options using CAD and 3D design software for approval and presentation.• Documentation & Specifications: Create detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for building alterations and equipment installations.• Field Research & Analysis: Conduct field surveys and research to inform planning and design development.• Agency Approvals: Prepare and submit applications for required approvals; collaborate with executive staff to develop design packets and reports.• Code Analysis & Compliance: Interpret and ensure adherence to California Department of Education standards, ADA, and various building codes.• Construction Documentation: Prepare detailed architectural drawings, construction details, and documents for alterations, improvements, and additions to existing structures.Minimum RequirementsExperience: At least 5 years of full-time, paid professional experience in large commercial, public agency, or school facilities projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one 3D design software (e.g., SketchUp).Demonstrated experience in architectural design, drafting coordination, field surveys, and review of vendor and contractor drawings.Strong ability to analyze architectural problems and optimize space utilization solutions.Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university.Knowledge & Skills: In-depth understanding of building materials and architectural characteristics.Expertise in California Department of Education, ADA, and related building codes.Proficiency in architectural design principles, aesthetics, and construction documentation.Familiarity with major computer-aided design tools such as AutoCAD and SketchUp.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative space planning solutions.Preferred Qualifications Experience with school facility projects or public agency projects.Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.KKCS is an equal opportunity employer encouraging individuals with disabilities and veterans to apply.
