Employer: Sasaki AssociatesJob Title: Associate - Urban DesignerJob Requisition: 22223.22.2Job Location: Brooklyn, New YorkSalary: $87,000 to $100,000/yearSasaki Associates seeks Associate - Urban Designer to perform the following duties: Strategize and design master plans in large scale land planning, downtown revitalization and urban design, new community planning, as well as institutional and campus site planning projects; conceptualize and diagram alternative urban design and planning concepts and translate them into presentation-quality compelling graphic images through drafting, graphic illustration and color rendering services; apply current and future-forward design best practices for sustainable and equitable design and leverage current and leading design technology tools; perform varied planning, traffic, and environmental analysis, including zoning, density analysis, site/land planning, feasibility analysis, and developmental impact assessment and ensure project compliance with regulatory requirements; prepare project reports and supporting graphics, tables, and charts, and develop project designs in all phases of assigned planning and urban design projects; work with clients and numerous consultants (sustainability, mobility, economic, branding) to internalize project goals and follows through with the development of master plans and design guidelines, and communicate with project managers, senior landscape architects/urban designers, clients, and other project personnel regarding various aspects of project development; lead community and stakeholder engagement, developing equitable and feasible engagement plans with community partners and clients; attend meetings both inside and outside the firm pertaining to existing and potential projects and participate in business development; manage the design team to create efficient processes and workflows, provide additional support to ensure smooth execution of projects and supervise the implementation of works contracts, carry out related studies and research; and, train and assist staff to learn new technological skills and workflows and develops new tools to enhance the design process.Requirements: Master’s degree in Architecture, City Planning or related field (willing to accept foreign equivalent) and 3 years of experience as an Urban designer or related occupation performing urban planning and design or, alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, City Planning or related field (willing to accept foreign equivalent) and 5 years of experience as an Urban designer or related occupation performing urban planning and design. Must also possess three (3) years of experience in the following: performing urban design for master plans in both domestic and international markets, including neighborhood, district, streetscape, and campus master plans; performing all aspects of urban design, programming and conceptual design (including sketches, illustrative graphics, 3D modeling, rendering, spatial analysis, and space utilization), through document production; innovating and analysis of the various elements of urban environment including land use, zoning requirements, public space, building typologies, and circulation systems of different urban forms; interfacing and facilitating engagement with a range of clients including commercial developers, universities, campus stakeholders, municipalities, and city planners through all phases of urban planning and design; and, utilizing hand sketch, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, V-ray, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, GIS, and Microsoft Office to represent and communicate ideas with various stakeholders.Hybrid position - Must report to the Brooklyn office 3 days/week.To Apply: Qualified applicants should submit resume to Betty Davidian at bdavidian@sasaki.com.
