VocoVision is hiring: Remote Sign Language Communication Specialist Opportunity

Educational Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) are individuals that ease communication between deaf and hard of hearing people and hearing persons in an educational environment.They use techniques that have been developed for communication.

• Full Time (35-40 Hours)
• Full school year | August 2024-June 2025
• Potential for Part time hours
• Caseload type: Varies as there are multiple openings

Responsibilities:

• Translate spoken language to sign language and vice versa, dismantling communication barriers
• Embrace the digital stage as you interpret in various online settings, from meetings to educational sessions
• Collaborate virtually with Deaf and hearing individuals to ensure smooth and meaningful conversations
• Play a pivotal role in fostering understanding and equal access across the digital landscape

Required Qualifications: Must have at least one of the following

• Masters Degree in ASL or Education Interpreting
• RID and/or NIC Certifications
• EIPA Certification (Verification of certifications will be done prior to interviewing)
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent comprehension of spoken language (preferred)
• Relevant certifications or degrees in Sign Language Interpretation (preferred)

VocoVision Requirements:

• Must carry professional liability insurance and operate as an independent contractor
• Home office setup including a computer with high-speed internet
• Comfortable with basic tech requirements and software tools for remote therapy sessions
