Job Description
JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS
PROGRAM: Development
STATUS: Full-Time, (35 hours per week)
FLSA DESIGNATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: President/CEO
DEGREE: Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in fundraising and relationship management in a not-for-profit organization
SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $70,000

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Use of personal vehicle during working hours
SKILLS:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Windows Applications
- Desktop Publishing skills from design to production
- Computer proficient in use of Microsoft 365 Office
- Strong engagement skills with multiple constituencies
- Oversight of contracted services and volunteers

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates, develops and plans fund raising and awareness efforts including oversight of sponsorships, supports to contracted consultants as appropriate, organization of board member, staff member and volunteer engagement in fund raising and awareness events
- Manages all donor relations and works with consultants as appropriate to plan, implement and oversee all appeals, campaigns, fund development and business relationships, and work with CEO and Board of Directors to ensure collaboration in such
- Develops planned giving initiatives and communicates this to Agency stakeholders
- Thorough verbal and written communications, plays a lead role in securing corporate and foundation support for Agency projects
- Engages Agency donors through personal meetings and written communications using Network for Good data and payment tools
- Promotes the Agency endowments to potential donors; develops a giving campaign for bequests, ongoing annual donations, and long term giving
- Partners with CEO in developing relationships with the Foundation Community
- Coordinates Agency communications efforts with all stakeholders in all roles, through the management of consultant contracts, establishment of long-term plans; with the implementation of new practices as appropriate
- Functions as Agency media guide to support the CEO, in media communication as well as coordination of all appearances and/ or community trainings with the Chief Operating Officer
- Develops marketing initiatives to promote the Agency and services
- Works in concert with the Communication Consultant to compose, edit, and manage the production of promotional materials
- Works in concert with the Communications Consultant(s) to organize and coordinate Agency social media initiatives
- Oversee all updates and assures that social media awareness efforts and events utilize appropriate trauma informed language in keeping with the Agency practices and cultural sensitivity
- Assists in communications with public officials in advocacy, including working with our partner organizations to advocate for NYS and Federal budget initiatives, set up regular communications with local representatives of City, County, State, and Federal Government
- Manages vendor relationships on projects that are outsourced
- Searches out potential grants, both public and private, and facilitates grant preparations with consultant team members
- Partners with the Celebration Committee to ensure all staff celebrations and awards are well communicated and supported
- Build an Annual Sponsorship program that ensures all events, fundraisers, and celebrations are paid for through sponsorships or donations. Including annual celebrations, walks and golf tournaments, raffles, program events, and new initiatives or capital campaigns
- Facilitates the Development Committee of the board meetings in collaboration with the committee chairs (6 per year) as well as event committee meetings in collaboration with event coordinators as appropriate and as noted above
- Communicates effectively with staff and board members regarding fund development and communications issues and achievements, including the use of dashboards or charts
- Coordinates with the Administrative Officer regarding the acceptance of and distribution management of gifts-in-kind, wish list, donated items, and annual holiday donations
- Participates constructively in one-on-one meetings weekly with CEO
- Performs other duties as requested by CEO
