Overview
The Outside Sales & Design Consultant is a highly skilled salesperson with a proven track record of results and provides exceptional service in premium custom designs and organizational solutions for the whole home. This role designs and sells premium custom spaces to customers in their homes by appointment. This position manages and coordinates all phases of customer projects from in-home consultation, design, installation, and organizing to provide a seamless customer experience. This role is also responsible for building repeat clientele, receiving customer referrals, and creating their own leads in addition to leads provided by TCS. This role serves as part of a Custom Space Outside Sales and Design team for their local market and is a full-time exempt position offering a competitive base salary complemented by a ramp up, sign on bonus and lucrative monthly bonus incentive tied directly to sales performance.

Responsibilities
Consistently meets or exceeds personal sales goals, lead to sold conversion and positive customer net promoter surveys. Inspires, designs, and confidently sells complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions for all areas of a home Ability to establish trust, rapport and understand customer needs to design and present projects and customized plans in a clear and professional manner Accountable for managing and maintaining multiple, simultaneous customer projects with a high level of detail, accuracy, timely follow-up with consistent and concise communication to customers and others Develops clientele and new leads through ongoing customer relationships, networking, referrals, leads generated within and outside the store Collaborates, partners, and maintains consistent communication with Store Leadership, store employees, and corporate partners to seamlessly complete projects from inquiry to installation Remains current and adheres with The Container Store training, certification, selling, product knowledge, promotions, processes, and philosophies when interacting with customers, support center, store employees and installation Proficiently and consistently uses company tools and email to effectively manage all aspects of customer relationship from consultation to Provides consistent feedback and observations to Store Leadership, Custom Spaces Market Manager, on sales, service and process areas of opportunity and celebration Assists customers with personal confidential information related to the Company credit card and application process Arrives promptly to all scheduled appointments, and other required work assignments Maintains discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information Performs other requested tasks and duties We believe in taking care of our team. Experience and Skills Required
College degree preferred 2-5 years outside sales experience preferred, custom closets experience a plus Proven track record of exceeding sales goals and driven for continual success Self-starter who is well-organized, creative, solutions-oriented, and effective at managing time and schedules to close projects efficiently to successfully achieve goals Knowledgeable about design principles, and experienced in outside sales and the custom space industry Maintains professional appearance when representing The Container Store Knowledge and passion for following trends in the custom space, interior design, fashion, and retail industry Reliable transportation for travel to and from customers homes for scheduled appointments Must have valid automobile insurance, pass appropriate state car inspection, and sign vehicle inspection form Must meet safety regulations including passing a Motor Vehicle Records report and a criminal background check Strong computer and tech skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word and knowledge of Excel, Salesforce, and design tools Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner Ability to work effectively and efficiently when outside the store based on the Company Telecommuting Policy Commitment and flexibility to manage schedule, work additional hours based on needs of customers and business Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization Ability to quickly separate mission-critical tasks from lower priority tasks and prioritize the most value-added projects of the day or week Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge Possesses focused attention to detail while working quickly and accurately under pressure Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information Ability to work within and exemplify The Container Store brand which we describe as matchless, fun, authentic, team, sustainable, life-changing, unique, trust and partnership Must be at least 18 years of age The Container Store promotes a smoke-free, drug-free environment.
