Job Summary: Design Technician – Level 3
Currently this is offered as a hybrid position with both in office as well as remote work requirements. Hybrid work protocols may be subject to change as the company policies adapt to the post pandemic business needs.
The position is located at NK Architects New Jersey Office, 95 Washington Street, NJ, 07960.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Architectural team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is looking to grow their talents and increase exposure in the field of Architecture with specific focus in institutional project work, primarily healthcare and/or education. The candidate should possess a professional degree in architecture but need not be licensed. The candidate will be a strong team player with a keen desire to join our integrated team of design professionals. The select candidate will collaborate closely with Project Managers in both NJ and NYC offices while working on projects that span all geographies (NY, NJ & PA). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years of experience.
Healthcare predominates in our marketplace, and our clients mandate that NK staff who conduct business with and site visits to healthcare providers be vaccinated. As such, it is preferred that candidates for this position be fully vaccinated individuals. Proof of vaccination is a requirement for prospective hires.
Candidate Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate competence in all conventional aspects of architecture while working closely with principals, project managers and architectural staff and consultants
- Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project(s), including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of appropriate design solutions
- Independently develop and apply advanced architectural concepts and designs, and perform assignments on a range of project types (new construction, renovation, and alterations) for projects of advanced complexity
- Develops and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects
- Assist the supervision of teams' design and technical delivery
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced architects / architectural staff
- Conscious of meeting deadlines while working on multiple projects
- Eager to learn and apply acquired knowledge
- Manage electronic filing and organize project files utilizing established office platforms and standards
- Execute all work in a professional manner
Required Skills/Abilities
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and energetic environment
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit a plus
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites a plus
- Familiarity with Newform a Plus
- Must be versed in Microsoft office, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative work ethic
- Strong communication skills
Education and Experience:
- BArch or equivalent degree from an accredited U.S. Architecture School
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
